Press Release – Volunteer Opportunities With FISH of Westminster – July 2025

PRESS RELEASE – VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES WITH FISH OF WESTMINSTER

If you are interested in volunteering for one of these positions, please complete the Volunteer Application form on the Fish of Westminster website.

You can make a difference in fighting hunger in our home town by volunteering with FISH of
Westminster, Inc. We provide support to people in Westminster and our surrounding
neighborhoods through the:

  • FISH Food Pantry.
  • Homeless support program.
  • Student support program at Westminster High/TRIO Upward Program.
  • Thanksgiving Day Free Lunch.

 

Join our team at FISH of Westminster by volunteering for one of the positions listed below.

 

FOOD PANTRY SUPPORT:

Packer – Volunteers packs “large” boxes – less than 25 pounds – with non-perishable
food items using an established list for distribution from the food pantry. Packers
typically finish their shift in an hour. We currently need someone to pack boxes
Wednesdays; either 9 – 10 am or 1 -2 pm.

Donation Pick-up Drivers – Volunteer pick up donations from s local business, transports
the donations to the Food Pantry, weighs and records the donations, and stores the
donations for later distribution. Drivers typically finish their shift in an hour and must be
able to lift 25 pounds. We currently need a Pick-Up Driver Mondays; 9:30 – 10:30 am to
pick-up donations near 75 th and Federal Blvd.

 

FOOD PANTRY STAFF:

Greeter – As part of a 3- or 4-person team, the volunteer welcomes clients to the food
pantry, records their relevant information, explains the operation of the food pantry to the
visitor, and takes their food order. Team members typically finish their shift in an hour.
Translators are frequently available to assist with clients who speak other than English.
We currently need a Greeter, Tuesdays; 5:10 – 6:10 pm.

Runner – As part of a 3- or 4-person team, the volunteer carries packed boxes to the
client (or client vehicle). Runners must be able to carry 25-pound packed boxes. Team
members typically finish their shift in an hour. Translators are frequently available to
assist with visitors who speak other than English. We currently need a Runner, Tuesdays;
5:10 – 6:10 pm.

BEHIND THE SCENES

Volunteer Coordinator – This individual will work on coordinating volunteer
assignments; particularly responding to applicants who are interested in volunteering and
finding substitutes for people who are unable to work their shift(s). The coordinator will
also work to recruit new volunteers as needed. Requires Excel, word processing, and
email skills. This work should take no more than 2 hours a week.

Marketing Coordinator – The responsibilities of this position are to get our name and
actions out within the community. The outcomes were are looking for are increased number of volunteers as well as increased number of donors. This would be done through actions such as writing press releases for the website as well as local news organization, working with Personable Media (our web management company) to enhance/improve information on the website, developing videos for posting on the website, and marketing specific fundraising activities. Position requires word processing, email/social media skills, and writing skills. We have a volunteer who is able to assist with translating materials to Spanish. This work should take no more than 3 hours a week.
